The first portal created by the Radcliffe Interactive team was 'Babyworld', sold to Freeserve in 1999 for nearly £3.8 million.

Babyworld was a pioneer in the field of virtual communities with over 1000 pages of medical and reference information, a news service, a bookstore, plus an online shop with some 300 product lines. It quickly became a lively community with over a million visits a month.

Since July 2003 Babyworld has been an independent company owned and supported by a passionate and dedicated team of people who have had close involvement in the nurturing and development of the site since its beginning in 1996.
